The Honey Badger Life
I know Valentine's day was the other day but, I wanted to talk about a book I read on Valentine's day called; Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston. This is my first time reading anything by Shelly and it takes a certain type of writing for me to fall in love and she did not disappoint!
This book is a romance fantasy with tons of hilarious scenes. The characters are phenomenal, the bantering has me laughing out loud every page, and so much action! I literally could not put the book down, this is definitely in my top 10.
A little about this book, it's about Honey Badger shifters. The main characters; Charlie, Stevie, and Max are honey badgers/something else- a hybrid. I don't want to spoil the surprise by telling you what else they are mixed with, so if you haven't gotten the book yet, I highly recommend it!
Charlie is the main character for this book, she has anxiety and a baking problem when upset or mad, I can relate already! She's always protecting her sisters and fighting people who either want them dead or trying to kidnap Stevie. The fight scenes are really good, there's a good chance of having a fight scene on every other page, that's including the fighting between the sisters.
Charlie's sister Stevie has a major panic disorder- thinks everything and everyone is going to kill her, including bears, so she usually runs away screaming. Stevie is like a super prodigy, she created an amazing symphonie, has a PhD in pretty much every field, which is why people are always after her- Honestly, it's a surprise at every turn.
Last but not least, Max. The spirit Shelly put into Max is incredible, I aspire to write a character like her because of how unique she is and her don't care attitude. She's a bazooka/knife wielding Honey Badger who takes care of her sisters the only way she knows how, threaten anyone who messes with her sisters. She's the one you never want to mess with either, she's pretty scary in her own unique way. Trust me.
I hope this helps to those of you who were thinking of getting it but wasn't sure, and now are. Those who already read it, I hope you feel the same way as me, falling in love with these amazingly unique characters! If anyone has a suggestion on the next book I should read, let me know!
