A Blossom at Midnight

 This review is about the book called A Blossom at Midnight by A.L. Knorr. It’s the first book of The Scented Court series but it is apart of the Elemental Origins Universe Series. This can be a standalone series but their are characters from this book that are in the Elemental Origins Universe before this book takes place. It all depends on how you would like to read it. It’s a fantasy, action, adventure, romance genre that has a lot of world building.

A little about the book;

Jess, who is a half-fae, is tired of her rural life and longs to leave. She always listens to her mother and obeys to her commands to keep her true self a secret. Her ears and her familiars are to be kept secret as well, but the repressed teen wants to rebel against it. When she finally gets approval to attend a flower festival her secrets come out, which causes an opportunity she never thought she would have. As her new life and her new magic unfolds, she discovers that her mother has kept a giant serious secret from her, one that changes everything she knew.

Laec, a fae courtier was rejected and was wallowing in wine and hated himself whenever he looked in the mirror. But when the Queen Elphame, offers him a foreign commission, he can’t help but jump at the new opportunity before him to start fresh, but soon learn that healing his heart may inflame the very trouble his queen sent him to prevent.

Cifta, whos beautiful and an eligible women believes in the importance of duty for her family. Wishing to please her father, she agrees to marry a powerful unseelie prince. But when she discovers his cold heart and attempts to break the engagement, the princess-to-be quickly finds herself in chains. Alone and trapped in a damp fortress, she cannot see a way out.

When a visit to another realm sparks a dark turn of events, it sets these three fae on a collision course with disaster. Will they wilt under the pressure or become a thorny threat to evil?

REVIEW:

I’ve never read anything like this book before, and I read A LOT of fantasy books. The way that A.L described scenes were phenomenal, I literally felt like I was there. I will admit though, I was a bit saddened to find out that there were no maps. I love a good fantasy book with maps but i quickly got over that and continued with the journey.

Now, normally, I don’t like reading books with multiple POVs because at first it’s quite confusing to remember who is who and who did what but the way this was written, I was able to follow along flawlessly and remember everything. Honestly, I’m debating on whether I want to buy all of her books or order them through my library but my little library goblin is telling me to buy them for myself. Her writing is that good.

Not a whole lot of actions scenes, not until towards to ending but it was still amazing. I was not expecting one of the characters to be able to come back from that and save themselves but I was COMPLETELY wrong. There’s a scene somewhere in the middle where it’s skimmed over a bit about her abilities but it’s not discussed a whole lot so I think that's why I wasn’t expecting it maybe? Either way, I absolutely loved it!

Some romance, just some flirting here and there but otherwise very tame but it is a Y.A so I’m not to surprised. This book is mainly character building and some plot, I’m guessing to get you ready for the next ones where there’s more action and more of the plot, which yesss I’m definitely getting them!
